A STRENGTH BASED APPROACH FOR TREATING OUT OF CONTROL SEXUAL BEHAVIOR (OCSB)

If you or a loved one is struggling with compulsive or problematic sexual behavior of any type, you have taken an important first step toward change and healing.  Few things hurt as much as feeling betrayed by the ones we love.

My approach towards working with compulsive or problematic sexual behavior is based upon Dr. Neil Cannon's (sex therapist, expert in the sex therapy field, and my formal mentor) program which is an alternative to 12-Step programs.

ASSESSMENT

Initially, it may seem the obvious problem is sex and that may be the case.  However, many problematic sexual behaviors are often a symptom of some other underlying issues such as PTSD, mental health issues, or untreated trauma and abuse. My approach is to understand the entire person in the effort to create sustainable change.

FOR COUPLES

Many clients seek treatment because they have caught their partner engaging in behaviors that violate the terms of their relationship. The injured partner often feels greatly betrayed and as if the person they love most is a complete stranger. Trust may seem impossible to ever restore.  Once we meet, we can determine the appropriate level of care and I can provide referrals if necessary.
